Parliament Funkadelic 4.0 with George Clinton
In my opinion, the new version of Parliament Funkadelic is full of wonderful musicians and vocalists, and it was cool to see Dragonforce. However, nearly the entire time, GC and everyone in PF were instructing the audience to sing along. It seemed like they were frustrated because the audience either wasn't loud enough or didn't know the lyrics. The sound vocal mix was so bad that people couldn't sing along. They kept directing everyone to put their hands in the air, wave 'em around, and clap and holler about how good the various musicians and singers were while performing. If a musician/singer is truly talented, shouldn't the audience naturally show their appreciation without being directed? I prefer to listen to the music without the constant need for praise. Most of the audience in Napa seemed to feel the same way. It also appeared that this version of PF has more of a hip-hop vibe than funk. It felt more like Parliament Funkadelic 4.0 with Dragonforce. Napa has an older, essentially white crowd, which may not be the ideal demographic for Dragonforce and Parliament Funkadelic. However, entertainers should adjust their performance to best entertain and respect the audience who paid good money and time to support the artist's career.
